Trainer ratio: 1 trainer to 12 candidates Course format: Blended Learning – eLearning followed by 1 x 7-hour face-to-face practical training day. Course outline: • Responsibilities of a First Aider • Primary & secondary survey and airway management • Dealing with an unconscious casualty, including seizures • Adult, child & infant CPR • Defibrillator (AED) use • Choking in adults, children & infants • Bleeding, life-threatening bleeding & shock • Wounds, bandages & dressings • Burns & scalds • Head injuries • Fractures, sprains & strains • Anaphylaxis & allergic reactions • Asthma and childhood illnesses • Bites, stings & poisoning • Practical first aid scenarios and assessments Face-to-face training: 1 x 7-hour practical training day, following successful completion of the eLearning element. Certification: Successful candidates receive both a Full Paediatric First Aid Certificate (FAIB) and an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate (FAIB). Renewal: Certificates are valid for three years. This combined course is suitable for schools, nurseries, early years settings and other organisations where staff require both Paediatric First Aid and Emergency First Aid at Work training. The course is designed to meet relevant EYFS, Ofsted and HSE requirements.
